Web Design A Rocky Web Home Page

The process of uploading your site is fairly simple once you've done it a couple of times but does require some software, some info from your server, and a bit of learning.

Uploading is done via ftp which is a protocol for transferring files. This can be done with some web browsers, possibly your HTML editor, or a ftp program like WS_FTP (this is what I use).

You need to know the ftp host name or address for your server, it might be your virtual domain such as mountainside.bc.ca. You also need to know the user name and password for your account, all different levels of access can be granted.

You access the server through the ftp program over your Internet connection and select files and folders from your hard drive to transfer up to the server with a few clicks of a mouse. Files can also be brought "down" from the server to your hard drive.

Now that your site is up and running, go Get the Word out ...
